The call for contributions is part of new research that may also feed into a forthcoming book by Higgypop founder Steve Higgins. Steve has spent years documenting paranormal cases from across the country, but the South West holds a particular fascination. It is an area that boasts some of the most famous haunted locations in the UK, such as the Ancient Ram Inn in Wotton-under-Edge, HMP Gloucester and Woodchester Mansion, all of which have attracted attention from ghost hunters and television crews.
The region is steeped in folklore, with enduring tales of the Beast of Bodmin Moor, legends of phantom monks around Glastonbury, and recurring reports of strange lights along the Cornish coastline. While these stories are well known, the project is also seeking fresh reports from those who have had their own personal encounters with the unexplained.
Steve said, „The South West has a reputation for strange happenings, but we want to go beyond the legends and hear directly from the people who have experienced something for themselves. Every report helps build a clearer picture of what’s really being seen and felt across the region.”
Submissions can be made securely through the form on the Higgypop website. Witnesses can remain anonymous if they prefer, and no stories will be shared publicly without permission. The project is run on a professional and respectful basis, with the goal of understanding experiences and giving people a chance to have their voices heard.
Anyone who has seen, heard or felt something unusual in the South West is encouraged to get in touch. You can report a paranormal encounter in the South West here or contact us using the form below. Whether it was a ghostly figure, an unidentified object in the sky, a brush with local folklore or something that defies explanation altogether, Higgypop wants to hear your story.
